Langstone Regatta
Saturday 17th June
Today saw us take a journey into Hampshire to attend the Langstone Regatta. This regatta was more of a friendly and not a point scoring regatta for the Jurassic league but it was a great opportunity for us to get some more races under our belt in the lead up to our next league regatta, try out a few different seat positions and crew line ups and for some of the newer rowers it was a another chance to gain more experience and build their confidence.
The club took a healthy squad size down and competed in 9 races against crews from Langstone, Weymouth, Poole, London Cornish, Lewes, ECA and Coastal Rowing Academy. Here are the results from the day.
It was another great day of racing, in what was fairly tricky conditions given the heat and also the tight turnarounds between races, but everyone did really well and did themselves and the club proud. Overall the club finished 4th out of 9 clubs.
We have to say a big thanks to Langstone for inviting us and putting on a great day, they had to work really hard to make sure all races were done in time with the tides and they were spot on (the cake stand was also a hit with our members). And also thanks to Weymouth for their assistance towing the boat for us.
We have something to build on now and can’t wait for the next regatta –
