Membership Types, Fees and Rights
Portland Gig Rowing Club offers individuals new to Cornish Pilot Gig Rowing three free taster/introductory rows. Thereafter the individual must become a PGRC member.
The membership year runs from 1st April until 31st March.
Half year membership is available for 2026/27 and runs from 1st October until 31st March.
Membership forms, Health and Safety Declaration forms, Day Member forms and Taster Session forms can be selected at the bottom of this page.
The fees below are for 1st April 2026 to 31st March 2027.
Full Member
- Fee – £60 (£35 half year 1st October to 31st March)
- Rowing at standard fee
- Participation in all club activities
- Full voting rights
Day Member – Available age 18yrs and Above
- Fee – £8 each day
- One row during that day (A completed Day Membership form must be handed to the row cox each day before the row)
- Full Members always have priority over Day Members for rows
- No access to club room or fitness facilities
- No participation in club activities (unless open to general public)
- No voting rights
Standard Fee
- Rowing – £3 each row (Day member £8) – all paid at time of row, cash or contactless.
Fees help to cover the cost of:
- Insurance
- Membership of the Cornish Pilot Gig Association (CPGA)
- Equipment maintenance costs
- Club administration costs
Fees help towards the costs of running the club, however fundraising activities are carried out throughout the year. All full members are asked to participate in fundraising activities.
Annual Membership fees are due on the 1st April each year.

To ensure that club records, including member’s contact details and medical declarations are up to date, PGRC requires ALL MEMBERS to complete a Membership Form and Health & Safety Questionnaire/Declaration each year.

From 1st April 2026, the Membership Form, Health & Safety Questionnaire/ Declaration and Gift aid form has been combined into a single google form. This is now the club’s preferred format of membership, however, if anyone has any issues with the google form, the old format is still available.

Membership Form (Downloadable)
Both sides of the Membership form must be completed and it must be signed on page 2. The form is to be sent to the Membership Secretary at the address on page 1. The fee is to be paid when the form is completed and can be paid by cheque or bank transfer. The Membership form must be accompanied by your completed Health & Safety Questionnaire/Declaration and Gift Aid form (if applicable).

Health & Safety Questionnaire/Declaration
The Health & Safety Questionnaire/Declaration must be completed and signed. The form is to be sent to the Membership Secretary with your Membership form and Gift Aid form (if applicable). Select here for a printable Health & Safety Declaration.
Gift Aid
Gift Aid can be claimed by our charity (PGRC) on donations of money, this includes membership fees/subscriptions, made by an individual in the future and over the past four years. The individual must be a UK income taxpayer. Gift Aid enables our club to boost donations by 25p for every £1 donated.
Gift Aid is reclaimed by the charity from the tax you pay. To enable PGRC to claim the Gift Aid, donors/members need to make a Gift Aid declaration using the Gift Aid Form that can be printed from the links below and is available from our Membership Secretary.

Taster Session Form
Once a request to try rowing has been received by the club, you will be contacted to explain the procedure and allocated a date and time for your first row. The Taster Session form must be completed and signed prior to your first row and handed to the coxswain at that row. Select here for a printable Taster Session Form
Day Membership Form
