Solstice Row

At 04:30, before the crack of dawn, on the longest day of 2022 some of our rowers gathered at Portland Marina and took to the water to watch the Summer Solstice sunrise. Their efforts were not wasted as the weather was excellent, the sky was clear and the water was flat providing the perfect conditions to view the celebrated annual event.

As the sun rose above the shore to the east, cameras and phones filled with excellent photos. The sight and atmosphere ensured that the crews were thankful that they had made the effort to arise at such an early hour to participate, its not every year that the weather is that perfect. The gigs then headed to a moored yacht where the partner of one of the crew had cooked pre ordered bacon rolls. Thank you to our Ladies Captain for organising the event, the chef for the bacon rolls and ‘whoever’ for setting up the weather.

PGRC members can sign into the Members News section within the Members Area of this website to see the full article of the event written by the organiser.
