Poole 5 Islands Regatta 2024
It’s been a bit of a stop start year for us in terms of attending Regattas so we were delighted to be able to attend the 5 Islands Gig Race at Poole on Saturday 19th October. This would be our last chance to compete for the season so as a club we were keen to go out on a high! (And thankfully the weather was kind to us for a change!)
PGRC had crews take part in a 7k Race (Men’s) a 9k Race (ladies) followed by two 2k races (Mens and ladies). Weymouth rowing club were kind enough to allow a couple of our rowers to join their crew for the day, for which we were grateful for. The day was then wrapped up with a 2k mixed race. Final results were decided in cumulative time from all races.
It was a brilliant day in the sunshine, everyone gave their absolute all on the water and showed what PGRC is capable of. There was also a great team spirit both on and off the water which just emphasised again what a great club this is. We need to thank our coxes (Max, Josh and Keith) and our towers (Kirsty and Nigel) as the day wouldn’t have happened without them.
As the season draws to an end, this is a perfect opportunity to thank everyone that has taken part or contributed towards PGRC being at regattas this year. Thank you to all our coxes, umpires, towers and supporters.
We cant wait to see what 2025 brings.
