Langstone Regatta 2019
Our gig ‘Pulpit Rock’ along with nineteen club members and some supporters, headed off early to Northney Marina on Hayling Island ready for the 08:00 gigs on the water. Teams attended from Exmouth, Bridport, Weymouth, Portland, Swanage, Langstone and Eastney. The course, within Sweare Deep, with its tight turns and restricted channels ensured challenging races throughout the event.
Our crews raced hard and well, achieving sound results. The men’s Vets finishing 1st in their race and men’s Supervets gaining second place in their race after a very hard row, beating Langstone by 32 100ths of a second. Overall Portland finished 3rd in the regatta and are now 6th in the Jurassic Regional Gig Rowing League after this, the third League Regatta.
Well done and thank you to all those that represented Portland, whether rowing, coxing or supporting and many thanks to Langstone Pilot Gig Club for the excellent day.
