27th World Pilot Gig Championships – 29th April to 1st May 2016

Portland Gig Rowing Club attended the 27th World Championship event hosted by the Isles of Scilly. All crews enjoyed experiencing the variable weather, cold with a strong north westerly wind to not quite so cold, and the sea states which were different each day with the Friday evening rows experiencing a ‘rather rough’ sea! In total 22 Club Members went.  The Ladies Vets came 29/61, Men’s Vets came 11/66 which is their best ever finish, well done Men, Men’s A 84/135 and Ladies A 62/144.  Well done to everyone that went.

Apparently some very nice nuns and monks joined up with the Club.
